I'm unsure where my distaste for the word "hobby" stems from, but it feels like people are minimizing the commitment a quilt requires when they refer to my quilting as a "hobby". Stamp collecting is a hobby. I like to think of it more as an art form, in which I have "vision", and then skillfully bring that to fruition. Just curious how you all feel about it. :?

Yep, I do, because for me, it is one.

I am not an artist, nor a professional. I am a hobby quilter. Not everyone is.

Obsession? LOL. I don't really know, but I do know that keeps me going - I find it some aspects really relaxing and enjoy all the processes, whilst I am striving to improve.

Quilting is past being a hobby to me - it's something of a passion now.

I'm a quilter, I dont mend thats all I care about. You can call me whatever you want as long as you dont call me to fix your pants.

My quilting is my Passion!! A hobby is something you do occasionally. Quilting is an everyday Passion :!: :!:

Haven't ever thought about it. As a lot of my quilts are made for abused/neglected children I'm just happy to help. I suppose like any art form some will like it some won't, some will understand it others won't.

I don't have a problem with the word "hobby", however,
the word "obsession" might be closer to the truth.

yes i consider it a hobby as well as art, any artform to me can be a hobby, doesn't take away from it being artistic. A hobby is something you do in your spare time for fun and since its not my job i consider it a hobby
