I keep them on my computer and also print a copy to keep in an album.

I have always tried to take pics of everything. I have not always been successful. I've been quilting for a long, long time. Since I got a digital camera I've gotten much better about it and make sure to print out at least one pic of each finished product. They go in an album. The rest are saved on my computer - but I've had many a computer die and lose it all. My favorite part is taking pics during the layout process. I'm a scrappy sort. If I had it one way - and then change it and don't like the results - I can always "recover" the one before... Our great grandmothers didn't have the technology for this. Aren't we blessed!

Guess I'd best get with the program! Remembering all of the photos taken over the years and no one looks at them. Then I think if I do the computer what if it crashes? So, just for me , since I have a 35mm Kodak camera, will take the pics, file them on the computer and also make a photo book. That way I'll cover all bases. Now if I can just remember to do it! Thanks all.

I used to print out the actual photos, now I have discs with all my quilts, sewing projects and crafts. But trying to remember to backup from computer and put on the discs is another story...

Yes, I take pictures of finished quilts, with name of pattern, size, etc. Then add the info to whom received it...

Definitely, I have several Quilt Journals, showing not only a picture of the quilt, but what was going on at that time, problems I had, name of the pattern/fabric, who it was for or why I made it and who quilted it, if it wasn't me. I think this information is valuable & part of preserving the 'history' of a quilt. I also have pictures/info onquilts I have from my mom and mother-in-law in my journals, with as much of the story about each as I know. I'm getting better about always putting a 'quilt label' on my quilts too reflecting some of the info from the journal. Quilt history is often facinating and definitely worth sharing with future generations, and it helps me remember things I may have forgotten as I look back through the journals: some time I am amazed at how many quilts I have made and where they are now...I am also a camera person and do scrapbooking, so journaling just come naturally to me.

Yes, I have been taking photos of them, especially as I make them. My memory isn't what it used to be ;) and I imagine the time will come when I won't remember what I've made, for whom, and when. I haven't printed them out, they just live on my laptop.

OTOH, my friend Pat who runs the Quilts of Valor group has kept several pocket albums of our completed quilts, and it is a joy to review. Each time we finish another one, it goes into the album and she shares it with us. Her goal is to make 50 quilts this year, and she is right on target with her count. Especially for this effort, it's fantastic!

Yes, I do. I crocheted for years and never kept a record and when I learned quilting I vowed not to make that mistake again. Everything is printed out and stored in a photo album with the necessary information. It's fun to look back through the album and "remember".
