I started quilting when I was 12 with my grandma and I'm 56 now. I'm nowhere near tired of quilting. Even if I wasn't doing it for the extra money I'd still be doing it. The love of quilting is just part of me,that's the only way to describe it.

Since I was a small child, I have always done some kind of handwork, mostly knitting, crocheting, calligraphy, painting, drawing, bead-making, cross stitching, sewing clothing and household items, and quilting. I pray I always am physically able to work with my hands! I never tire of being able to imagine a project and then make it come to life! Quilting seems to take the longest of all the crafty things I do or have done, but it is most satisfying to me at the same time.

Sometimes I overload myself and get tired of it all. Then I just back away and find something else to do for a while... lots of good books out there. After a while I find I'm itching to get back to the sewing machine. I think we always need a break from things if we get too overwhelmed.

I hope not. I think the secret is to find a happy balance with all things in life.

Hi, I knit and crochet also. Always have something to work on when I go to my recliner after sewing most of the day. I love quilting, and do so just about every day, but I get tired or worn out by the end of the day. I live alone with my maltese, in a 4 bedroom double wide. I have a sewing room and a quilting (hand quilting frame) room. The extra bedroom, other than my bedroom, is computer and single bed room for company, sort of like a guest room. Happy Holidays!! I just love this Quilting Boad site!!

It is either in your blood or it's not. I have sewn since I was about
10, then I did clothes, and my dearest Mother in Law introduced me
to quilting in the 80's, and have been possessed since. I was out
of work for a time also, but I sewed as much as I could, reorganized my room, then found stuff I forgot I had and off again was sewing. Serious sewers never would even ask that question.

I have sewed all my life; and have done all kinds, apparel, wedding gowns, home dec. and now quilting. If I "get tired" of something it is because I am tired of that particular type. It just means I am ready for a new challenge, even half square triangles
I am the same way. When my kids were young I made clothes. When my daughters got married I made their wedding gowns. When my granddaughter was a baby I made her a quilt , bumper pads , etc. then made special occasion clothes. Working full time, taking care of my home and very involved in my church left little time for quilting, painting and the crocheting, etc. Now that I am retired I do a lot of quilting, painting ,etc and there are still not enough hours int the day. I don't think I will ever get tired of making quilts, especially the tops, it is a challenge and I love seeing them come together.
