Steering wheel pattern
#1
Does anyone know how to make one of those steering wheel covers that completely encloses the wheel? I saw a picture of a quilted one with an embroidery in the center and I want to try it. I googled it but could only find those covers that just cover the rim of the wheel, not the entire thing. Any help would be great. :!:

Is this the type of thing that you're looking for? Something to keep the steering wheel cool? If not and you want one that fits snug around the whole wheel, why not make one like a small round fitted sheet? You could still piece and quilt it, just make it about 4" bigger all the way around than the steering wheel. That should provide enough room for a small casing with elastic.
Now you've got me intrigued and I may have to see if I can make one before I go to Texas.

I would be afraid to use it too... It may even cause you to get a ticket, as the wheel access is obstructed. Although, I like the idea of a cover to keep it from getting so hot in the summer, when parking in the sun, removing it before driving :D:D:D

got that right. I think you make the cover and use that thermal batting like the stuff you put in oven mitts as an insulator. I find it difficult to drive with something think on the wheel, that's why I would rather cover the wheel while I am NOT driving.
