I'm in the market to upgrade my Bernina. Does any one have the Bernina activa 230 PE? My lqs has one on sale for around $1000 but from the reviews I've read about it, it doesn't sound like it is worth the money. I really like the old Bernina I have now but I'm looking for a few more features like automatic needle threader( the eyes aren't what they used to be!) needle down, more stitches, and thread cutter. I quess I'm willing to give another brand a try but I'm used to my old workhorse. Cost is also an issue now- colleges don't take buying a new sewing machine as a good excuse to skip payments! Help anyone?

I had one, I returned it in 7 days. I found it way too small for me. Its only a 1/4 machine, not full size. for 1000 bucks you can buy a viking :)

Check out the 6600P. Great machine!!! Paid 1049 for mine. The Horizon 7700 replaced it so there are good prices on these. Very sturdy built, accu-feed a dream, needle threader - I haven't had a problem with yet. Up-down needle position. Check it out.

Good Luck!! I know that this can really make your head spin. :-D :-D
