I looks like a lone star, but with 9 pieced diamonds?
Very unique looking.

Looks like that to me too. Rather than having the normal 45 degree diamonds (360/8), you would cut 40 degree ones (360/9). Unfortunately, you would need to cut your own template as I don't think there are any 40 degree rulers out there.

 At the time that block was made, I doubt if there were ANY degree rulers out there.

Spectacular is what I would call it. I am not being funny. That is terrific.

wow - is it hand pieced ? it's really terrific. I would guess it's a Lone Star variation.

Known to me as Missouri star--a variation on Lone Star that was popular in the Ozarks----
I think 30s and 40s was when Sadie made hers. I saw it at her house in the 70s....

I thought so too. The top does have some stains on it, but I am going to go ahead and have it quilted and bound before I attempt to remove the stain. I believe it was made from feed and flour sacks from the 30's. The blocks are all hand pieced then it looks like they were machine stitched together at a later time. I nearly cried when I saw all of the lovely hand work. I know that sounds silly...but I really did!
