Was your question serious? Or a joke?

Maybe you should tweak your resolutin to say: each new quilt must have 3/4 of the fabric from your stash. It would be really hard to complete each quilt from stash. Just buy what is needed to complete the quilt.

I tried that same resolution a few years back and felt sooooo guilty whenever I bought anything (including thread because I have almost as much thread as fabric), so I decided to amend the resolution. I decided that unless the project was for a class that I was teaching, in which case I would use current fabrics available at the shop so as to encourage others to purchase fabric (boy that sounds bad!), I would use at least one fabric from my stash and supplement as needed. That sure worked well and before I knew it, I was using LOTS of stash fabric.

I haven't completely depleted the stash and I no longer always start with stash, but I sure feel better and the stash is noticeably smaller. I also think it has made me better at matching fabrics, or as my friend says "color/fabric specialist."

Good luck and I look forward to seeing your creations!

I LOVE UpNorth's resolution. Maybe I can stick to that one! Hahaha. Thanks for the chuckle!

Hey, if you don't buy anything new and only sew what you have. . . Eventually you won't be able to sew 'cause you don't have any fabric. The answer is MODERATION. (And if you figure that one let me know. I've been sewing for 50 years and I'm still working on it.) LOL

I'm sticking to my resolution very well, I haven't bought any new fabric since last year!! LOL (Really, last week I used my Joann's gift cards and then some, but since then I haven't bought anymore).
