I can't buy any fabric, but what I make from donated fabric, my hubby will study it, and when he really likes something, he is almost excited that I made it. I just mended my granddaughters teddy bear, and hubby told her grandma can fix anything. this is just not true, as I still have never even done a zipper. He loves looking at the fabric that comes to the house, he can not believe there are so many kind people. I am disabled, and have pain all the time, but hubby encaragis me to quilt even on really bad days. he is my rock besides the lord. God bless.

We have separate finances so he has NO idea what I spend on fabric and knows better than to ask. He likes the end results, tho. When my sewing machine "died" after 29 years, he bought its replacement, a Bernina 430. Being the handy guy that he is, I talked him into building a machine quilt frame a year and a half ago (which turned out beautifully). The Bernina lasted on it for about a month and then he bought the Janome 1600 to go on the frame. Now several vintage FW's and treadles have been added to the collection (out of my budget) and when he dares to say anything about the number of machines, I just point to the 3 table saws and several loaded rolling tool chests in the garage and he just smiles. We celebrated 27 years last week.

DH has been very supportive of my quilting. About 4 yrs ago, our tax refund was fairly large and he knew I'd been looking at long arms, so he said if I wanted one, I could have the refund money. He didn't have to tell me that twice! It wasn't enough for anything expensive, but I got a Voyager with a Hinterberg Stretch frame. Went ahead and got the stitch regulator, too. He never questions me about how much I spend on fabric, and gets me JoAnn gift cards at every opportunity! He always complements my quilts. We'll be married 45 yrs in January and I think I'll keep him!
