Anyone know where to purchase large, simple, realistic dog silhouette patterns in various poses? I want to do a series of Labs in different poses, then bling them up with trims, wild fabrics, etc. Think Laural Burch but starting with a plain black silhouette. Thanks.

I would love this also. I had a black lab that I want to pay tribute to.

Aren't they the best? Our Lab Jake has been living with oral melanoma for about 1 1/2 years now and so far there has been no reoccurence. His treatment keeps us broke but wouldn't do anything different. There is just so much personality and uniqueness in these dogs. I've had dogs all my life and we've had Jake for about 9 years. He was a rescued treasure. He's my first Lab and if I would have known how wonderful they are, I would have had nothing else but Labs.

I just finished a quilt for my step-daughter that has labs and Aus. Shepherds. I'll try to post a pic later today. I got the silhouettes from a book by Darcy Ashton called Beautiful Big Dogs. They were simple outlines with embellishments--sounds like just what you need. It also had quilt patterns for them but I didn't use them--just made up my own. Hope this helps.

Check out free coloring book pages online... you could easily use them for silhouettes, and have a wide variety to choose from :D:D:D

one of the best things to do is to take a picture of your dog (or any other dog of that breed in various poses), print it and trace around it for a silhouette. Normally produces a much more lifelike silhouette.

Fons & Porter's most recent Love of Quilting has two cute quilts in the back - one with dog faces and the other with cats'. I have made several variations on the dog/cat theme and am sorely tempted again!

This one is really good. It even shows the lines that you would add for details.
