Donating Quilt Tops?

Donating Quilt Tops?
Hi All!
It's been a long time since I've been on here. I'm only now starting to quilt again, as the past few months have been really hectic.
I am doing a project to help the community. Doesn't need to be a local thing, just needs to help people. I decided to do some of the time that I've allotted towards making quilts. My problem is that I cannot afford to make quilts, it needs to be quilt tops. While I don't mind expending the time, I cannot afford the backing & batting.
Do you know of any organizations that would accept quilt tops? With no backing, just lap size quilts?

I agree - Project Linus. In fact, they will supply some of the fabric for backings and the batting (at least ours does). Many bring tops and we finish them at our meetings. It's a great cause. Hope you can find one in your area.

Your local guild is the Mid-Valley Quilt Guild of Salem, and if you are not already a member I hope you will join up. We donate hundreds of quilts every year, and supply batting when needed, as well as longarm services. We also support a prison that teaches women inmates to quilt. There's a table full of donated fabric scraps at every meeting, and members are encouraged to take what they want. That alone is worth the price of membership! It's a thriving, active guild, and you can choose between morning or evening meetings. If you want to chat about joining, pm me - and if you're already a member, say 'hi' at the next morning meeting (last Wednesday of each month).
