Default Double Wedding Ring Quilt

Once again, I am coming to the experts for help and advice!

Does anyone have a fabulous tutorial (words, video or pics are fine) on how to join the pieces to the middle. I'm having a really hard time getting it to all line up without bunching up - where it gets really small (on the "arm") and joins with the squares.

The pattern I bought is from McCall's and has zero guidelines. I've googled it but am not having much luck finding something to help me out.

Hopefully someone will have a link or be able to walk me through it.

Thanks in advance, and hope everyone is doing well.

Marion

Ebony Love has a 5 part you tube tutorial. She uses the Accuquilt die, but if you start with part 2 it's just the construction which will work for any traditional DWR:

I have only made one double wedding ring, I used Marti Michels templates and it came together great. But here's my advice to try to help. First are you using thin pins? Not the yellow headed ball ones. I use the thinnest glass head pins I can find, they are long and thin and bend easily. They take less of a bite out of the fabric and don't distort. Then, pin, two pins on each end to keep the tiny ends from splaying out, one in the middle and two on either side of the center pin. Yes, that is 9 pins. But it works. I was taught by a friend when doing curves. There is a belly, the round part fabric and a shirt, the other fabric part which is stretched out on the sides. When you sew, sew with the shirt covering the belly. Why it works I don't know, it just does. Next, the quilt is assembled block by block in a serpentine seam. One by one. if you try to assemble all the blocks then join them together, it doesn't work or you have lots of y seams which are unnecessary. Hope it helps.
