Dresden Kaleidoscope

Has one tried this technique? The pictures are beautiful but I am not sure I can do that. I really have a problem picking out fabric and I just don't know if I am up to it. Bought several pattens from e Pattern Central and Clothtide and the instructions aren't very clear so I'm kinda hesitate to purchase something else that I really don't know anything about. However the Dresden Kaleidoscope keeps calling me. I'm just afraid I may be biting off more than I can chew.

I have. I love Rhonda's eBook. The 2 items I made went together really fast. I had trouble seeing the best place so I got out my mirrors to find repeats. I'm posting my first hot pad. The center is not perfect,(I didn't notice until I took the pic ) so please be kind! (Rhonda uses a yo-yo in the center - that would have taken care of my problem!) It's 8" across. It has thinsulate inside. I'm also posting the material I plan to make for the next two - with the mirrors to show where I plan the cut the repeats. I had trouble finding the right places in the material, too, even though Rhonda does an excellent job of explaining what fabric to use and where to place the templates. The mirrors gave me a better idea of what I was going to get.
Unfortunately, my sump pump made a fountain in my storage room last week and I had to spend the week cleaning, drying out and doing inventory instead enjoying my new sewing room. Thankfully the room was done so most all my stuff was moved out of there and into my new room.
