Dresden plate question

Dresden plate question
I'm thinking of trying to make a Dresden plate table mat. What angle do you use to cut the sections? Since I don't appliqué I've never tried to get a pattern, but seeing one done as a table mat intrigued my imagination so now I'm wanting to try it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It depends on how many blades you want. Figure 360 degrees to a circle and divide by your blades. 30 degrees for 12 blades, 22.5 degrees for 16 blades. The fewer blades the wider they are. Guess it depends on how wide you prefer your blades or how much of the fabric you want to show off. Some of my guild members did plates with ties. Too show off the ties better, they went with wider blades.

If you don't have a ruler, you can print out or make your own template.
