Am a beginner so I need an EASY half block. Saw a pattern in a quilting mag several months ago but can't find it now. Think it dropped into the "black hole". Any ideas?

check the search engine and you should find as many as you even think of ever hoping to do !!! Don't know how to put sites on here like others do but stay tuned , they'll show up for sure !! Or, you can just use your imagination and use 2 colors , or scraps with as many colors and patterns that you have and just keep making them til you have the size you want !!!! Draw a graft and play play play !!! have fun and do let us know what you decide !!! Enjoy

simple patch work. depending the size youe want, Sew squares together in strips then sew the strips together. That would be the top.

I think that you are asking about a half square triangle pattern, or HST. Do a search on this board for both the abbreviation an full spelling. there as LOTS of tips and several different techniques int the tutorial section.

My avatar is done in half square triangles. It comes out very pretty and looks like you spent a lot more time making it. It's called Bali Star or Bali Sky. I can check tonight if you like. Takes 8 fat quarters and I believe 2 yards of black or white for background.
