Default Easy Potholder made from 9 Patch Wonder Block

I recently learned about the 9 Patch Wonder Block for quilts when we had a school house session at my quilting guild meeting this month. It is a quilt-as-you-go technique where after the 9 blocks are pieced, you only sew three seams and you have a completed block. I immediately saw potholders in my head and couldn't shake it, so I had to go buy some Insul-Bright and make some.

I used scraps I trimmed from a quilt after it was quilted. (I always make the back as another pieced quilt and I make it bigger, so sometimes I have quite a bit to cut away, and I throw nothing away.) So many of my 9 patches were pieced patches so it made it look like it required much more work than it did. They just happened to be the colors of my kitchen which was a bonus because I get to keep these.

I started with 4" blocks, which finished as a 7 1/4" potholder. I have two layers of Insul-Bright in them. I hope that is enough.

These were quick and easy. Made these four last night after everyone went to bed. First photo is the front, while second photo is the back of them. Thanks for looking.

Those are very cute. We want a Tute. I love potholders and manage to give mine away, then I wonder how come I have so few. I really like the design and need to make some for me.
