I agree, she is good for beginners, but also for us seasoned quilters. Better to trim down a pieced part rather than be shy when trying to put together. And her way of doing a specific block is usually simpler than others instructions on that same block........jmho

Hi teen! My first ever "speed" quilt was the log cabin in a day by her. Oh my, tearing all those fabric strips and the bruised edges. How fun and funny it was. She was always my favored host to watch. I don't get her on PBS anymore, but I always used to tape her show.
All that being said, I have tons of her books and I enjoy using them. (Occasionally making one quilt here and there) I used to crack up when she just threw that fabric over her shoulder across the room. What a great teacher and a joy to watch.

EB's San Marcos store is just down the road from me about 60 miles and I've been there a ton of times. I have a bunch of her books and she's really the reason I chose a Babylock machine. She knows those models inside and out. I went to Road to Calif last year and she was in her booth just a smilin away. She signed my book that I brought and asked to see any pictures of my quilts. I happen to have several (duh!!) and she oohed and auhed like they were the most fantastic things she ever saw. She'd asked me questions and ask me to blow up pictures so she could see the colorway and my piecing. She gave me compliments and encouraged me to stay with the craft. She's special.

When I first started quilting, I learned a lot from watching her shows on PBS. She's so nice - I met her many years ago in Paducah. Once in a while I'll catch her show on that rural network.

Two years ago, at the Shipshewana Quilt Show, I entered a small restaurant for a quick lunch. The dining room was very crowded, but I spied one table with a lady sitting alone. I asked her if I could share her table and lo and behold Eleanor Burns turned to me and said sure! We had a nice lunch and took a Selfie which she e-mailed to me. I agree, she is a very nice lady!

My sister and I went to a quilt seminar and attended two classes taught by her. It happened to be the first anniversary of my husband's death. Started out to be a sad day for me but by the end of the first class I was cheered by her personality, which before meeting her I always thought was really corny. She still is kind of corny but now it is endearing.

I absolutely love Eleanor Burns. I’ve seen her show in Paducah several times, have many of her books and I’m making a quilt now from one of her patterns. She is very precise in her books and my quilts turn out great.
