Additionally, the colors for Isacord seem to really vary from site to site, making it hard to discern what I might really be getting. I wish that sellers of Isacord would put up actual thread cones to see. Still depending on how to see the color on the computer screen - but this seems to be a bit more accurate than thread cards with tiny squares.
Dawn, I have used both Isacord and Magnifico. They both work really well for me. I don’t notice a difference in sheen between the two brands. I do however, notice that some colours have more sheen than others. That is possibly contingent on what fabric the thread is sewn on. So many variables.

I buy my Isacord in a store so have the luxury of matching colours to fabric.

As QuiltE suggested try samples of both and see what appeals to you. It’s subjective so what I think looks great may not appeal to you.

It just gives a wee bit of lustre and that is what I like about it.

Thank you. I just realized this morning that I have a spool of Fantastico, and the description on Superior's site indicates high sheen. I haven't used it for anything yet, I just bought a sample a while ago. I wanted to see how it looked with decorative stitches. I found my sample - not too shiny at all. So I am sure Magnifico will be fine.

I wish I could find either of these threads locally. Looking forward to branching out a bit with my FMQing, as I have stuck with a neutral Aurifil thread (piecing and FMQing) for so many years. Looking at my sample of Fantastico, it has a nice pop. Which I guess was what I was avoiding in the earlier years of FMQing, I was looking to blend to hide mistakes.
