Default Blue dot bobbin for FMQ and bobbin washers

I have a question. I purchased the Blue Dot bobbin for my Janome 6600 a couple years ago and used it for a short while. I put it away then and forgot about it until I just recently decided AGAIN to learn and PRACTICE free motion quilting. When someone mention that in a help posting I remembered I had one and got it out and put in in my machine again - along with a bobbin washer. My question.....do I need to take that Blue Dot bobbin out of the machine when I'm not FMQ'ing and put the Red Dot bobbin in or can I just leave the blue one in there. Same with the bobbin washer?

Thanks!

From what I understand you should take it out while piecing because of the tension difference. I used a bobbin washer once and it seemed not to be of any help so I took it out.

I've left mine in since I put it there--I haven't noticed any tension issues, so its just remained. But mine is in my 8900, not my 6600--and I know its more of a pain to trade it out of the 6600. The 8900 plate just pops out inside of screwing out. My advice--due to the inconvenient nature of the plate removal, buy an 8900 and keep the blue bobbin in that
