EQ7 question for you....

Thank you all for the input on which to buy -- EQ7 or AccuQuilt Fabric Cutter. (See "What to Buy" thread)
All of your input about EQ7 talks of blocks and scanning fabric and traditional patterns. I think one of the things I am looking for is a way to make a quilt out of a photo (landscapes, portraits, art, etc.) and none of you have addressed that. I have never seen that in the literature or info about the EQ7.
Does EQ7 have the ability to transform photos to a quilt patterns? Do any of you use it for that? Thanks for answering! You guys are awesome!

Yes, it does have this feature. You load an image into EQ7, and the software will divide it into the shapes you select (squares, trapezoids, hexagons, diamonds) and then change each shape into a fabric of the average color in that area. You can load fabrics that you intend to use into EQ7 and it will use those fabrics for the photo image. I haven't used it yet, but it's on my list of things to try.

Are you talking about taking a picture of a mountain scene for example, and EQ7 will automatically separate out the individual pieces for applique?
EQ has a toll free number, the people there are very pleasant to talk with. Maybe call them and ask them your questions. Tell them what it is that you would like to do with the program, and see if it is possible. I have found them to be very honest and forthright :D:D:D
