I agree with you, I would say no the next time they ask, and they will. I think a raffle raises more money than an auction. I am also a give it and don't look back kind of person, but don't insult me. There are plenty of charities who appreciate donations.

the fundraiser was not for a legitimate- tax deductable organization- it was for some cheerleaders trying to make money to go to camp this summer-
i kind of like the idea of setting a minimum-but i think i will simply avoid the situation from now on- and only give to the non-profits that make it worth my time and money-
and simply give $20 to any locals making requests....less frustration and anxiety involved-
what i guess really (set me off) was the fact she called and told me in the first place- i think had it been me- unless asked- i would have just kept that info to myself- instead of (acting as if it was a good thing they got something for them)
anyhow- note to self....

Sorry, that sucks and exactly why I didn't donate to our Youth Auction.
I didn't feel it would be appreciated.
I was right.
Someone else donated a hand made quilt in a comforterbag. they didn't even take it out, kept it in the bag and sold it for $5. Yes $5 for a twin size quilt!!
I don't think I will ever be able to give and not look back.

i agree also, next time just give them the monetary donation. and gift or sell your quilts to others who will appreciate them. sorry you were treated with such disrepect. i really think people who don't quilt just don't understand the time, money and love that goes into a handmade quilt. and only donate quilts to charities you feel passionate about. :-)
