I just got my new Tin Lizzie18LS last Tuesday. With it being Christmas, I have only had time to set it up and get it running and I have only practiced on it for about an hour or two so far. I have tried a couple brands of sample threads that came with it. Is there any particular brand of thread (and weight) that you favor using with your Tin Lizzie? Where do you buy supplies such as bobbins and needles? I need more supplies and the one store I know that may have them is actually two hours away and they sell the Handi Quilter brand so I do not know if the needles are compatible or if there is a special brand to buy for Tin Lizzie. Does anyone order from any sites online? I would love any information anyone has on this. I am excited to actaully own a Tin Lizzie now--but nervous at the thought of actually quilting my first quilt on it. I'm sure I will pratice yet for a while before I do that! I would love to hear from all you Tin Lizzie owners out there! Thanks.

I use King Tut thread for top and bobbin. I get it at shows when its on sale and stock up. You can also get it and Quality sewing and Vac stores depending where you live. I think Supieror thread is another place that I found King Tut thread. Hope that helps. I have only made One King size quilt on mine so far.

I like Isacord for the top thread and Bottom Line (by Superior) for the bobbin. King Tut is good also. I get supplies at my LQS so can't help you there. I was very nervous at first and did a lot of practicing on charity quilts. Remember to be relaxed and chocolate can't hurt!

Before my Tin Lizzie arrived I ordered a bunch of bobbins and needles from http://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/sewing-supplies.php and they arrived before the machine! but I find that I use only a couple bobbins because most of my quilting is done with a neutral thread and Lizzie winds a new bobbin while I'm sewing! I like Superior Thread (they make King Tut too) and I honestly think that online is a good way to buy it. Have fun with your Lizzie...and don't forget to check the dipstick often!

i use threads from connecting threads, some buy all of their threads from Atlanta Thread Co. both are good sources; as for the needles and bobbins for your machine...did you not receive an owners manual with it? the manual should tell you what needles and bobbins you need to use, and my manual has a list of resources in the back so i know where to find supplies. i would think where you bought the machine should carry all the necessary parts too. i can not use the same needles or bobbins in 2 different machines, one uses one,,,the other uses different...i thought they are pretty much always brand dependant...the gammils won't work in the hq's, which wont work in the nolting which wont work in the apqs........where the tin lizzy falls i don't know but i bet there are parts/accessories specific to the tin lizzy.

I have the older model Tin Lizzie. I use thread from Threadart (online store), it's cheap, all cotton. The only problems with it are that each large cone has a knot in it, it also makes lots of lint which I clean with each bobbin change. I deal with it beacuse it's good thread and cheap. I buy M bobbins, needles and bobbin caseings on ebay, there are many sellers and prices are good. Congratulations on your Lizzie! The fun is just starting !

I have a lizzie and I use Isacord on the top and Sulky cotton on the bobbin. Have fun with Lizzie!

i own the viking 18x8 which is in the same family as tinlizzie and pfaff. i use king tut on top and bottom line in the bobbin. joanns sells king tut now and it just went on sale today online only. i've used star/coats&clark/aurifil those threads produce a lot more lint than king tut, but if you clean your bobbin area often they should be good to go. enjoy your new toy!
