Default Fabric book cover

Hi,

Does anyone know of a pattern for a book cover made from fabric or of a tutorial on doing it?

he book is a bible and I remember how I use to have paper covers as a child for books, but wondering is there an easy way to make one for a certain size book out of fabric.

Thanks

No two books seem to be exactly alike in size. So a specific pattern might not really help you.

You don't need a pattern. You already have the skill. How about doing a paper cover then use that for your pattern adding seams where you want them.

I recently bought a pattern to make a Bible/Book tote for my Bible. You could leave the handles off if you just want a cover. The pattern is called Bible/Book Tote and it is from www.villagemercantile.com I haven't made mine yet but hope to soon!

Lay the bible on a piece of paper. Draw around it. Cut that out then cut two pieces as tall as the bible but just 3 or so inched wide. That will be your inside flap. DONE!

don't forget to include a pocket for paper for taking Bible study notes, a place for pens and highlighters, extra bookmarkers. If you stick things inside the pages of your Bible you will want to have the cover zippered.

If you search for journal covers on Google, you will find patterns that will give you the basic steps to follow. Just measure for the size of your Bible.

If you're less interested in sewing/customizing a cover, and more interested in simply protecting your book, you might check Walmart and office supply stores. They have stretchy book covers for students, they are very inexpensive and will fit lots of different sizes.

I cover diaries for Christmas . I make sure you have open wide for the book.use paper to make a cover as mentioned. Cut out front plus seam allowance cut out same size batting and lining. With Hesse 3 bag out and quilt. Now make 2small rectangle to go inside to form a sleeve for the cover to fit in. Bag out and quilt them. With these 3 join either by hand or machine and put bible in.
Additions a notebook which can be made by bagging out as above and sewn to the outside also pen holder, handles etc.. A piece of ribbon or elastic to hold pages open . Etc always decide on extras before bagging out as some could fit in a seam .

Would you please explain the words "bag" and "bagging" when connected to sewing. I've never heard those words used that way before. Thanks.
