Default A little "funny" for the ladies who use comic book boards for organizing fabric!

So, a few weeks ago I decided to try the comic book boards for my fabric. Since my brother is a big comic book collector (has been since childhood and he's 46 now!), I texted him and asked where I could get boards locally... he texted back and said, don't buy them, I will bring you some. I told him I would be using them for fabric bolts.

Well, I ended up ordering a bunch from Amazon because I didn't want to wait for him to bring them...I was ready to organize right then, and as you know we have to grab that feeling when it happens.

So, lo and behold, he shows up last Saturday at my house - with about 10 comic boards. Ha ha ha!!! I almost laughed in the poor guy's face. He truly has no idea.

I ordered two packs of 100 from Amazon and have already used up one entire pack plus some from the second pack. And I'm not done yet. If he only knew, he might have a panic attack!

That is hilarious.

I went to the comic book shop and walked in and said "I'm looking for the boards that you put behind the comics to keep them from bending, do you have something like that?" And the guy goes "are you using them for fabric? That's how the fabric people always ask. The comic book guys all know where they'll be."

So apparently, the comic book store knows us

I guess there aren't enough quilters in my area... the comic book store guys always try to sell me the bags to go with them!

I went to our local comic book store and the owner had never heard of using the boards for fabrics. You should have seen the look on his face when I went back for the second hundred!

Phew, I thought I had used a lot. I just got my 3rd package of 100, I used up the first 2, I even cut some of them in half for the smaller pieces of fabric.

My first trip to the Comic Book store I bought 3 packages - they do have different sizes so I got 2 regular and one larger one. Not sure how many times I have gone back. Told the owner he needed to post his shop info at the 2 local quilt shops and he thought I was crazy but last time I went in he said it turned out to be a good idea after all. Unfortunately the quilt shop owners didn't want to sell them, but at least were willing to give out the name and location of his shop.

I had bought 2 pkgs @ 100 ea. several months ago. When I started organizing, I bought 2 more pkgs from amazon.com, just in case - insert a smile here. I went through those 4, ordered 2 MORE thinking that should surely do it, but ordered another 2 pkgs - a total of 800 boards - AND USED THEM! I still have fat quarters (I'm addicted to them) in storage boxes-I'll just leave them for now. That is just the quilting fabric. I folded and organized my apparel fabric also. I find I can work a lot better with everything organized.

This blog (not mine) has a great explanation. http://cuttopieces.blogspot.com/2011...-tutorial.html
I've gotten up to 5 yards on a board.
