The add states it can be used for fabric cutting. Has anyone used this machine for cutting fabric? Does it work out well? I cannot afford the accuquilt go machine, so I wondered if theis would be an acceptable alternative. I would appreciate any feedback or thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Michelle

The only thing I would see wrong with the sizzix cutter is its not made with quilters in mind, so it doesn't have the dies like the strip cutter. It has more shape and stuff like that.
However...If you do a lot of applique this machine is great for that. I just don't see it really "helping" a quilter.

The big shot is only about 6" wide and there aren't many dies that size. The Big Shot Pro is a lot wider but it's also a lot more expensive (more than the current Go prices I've seen). But I'm pretty sure the Big Shot can take the baby go dies (as long as they're 6" wide or less) so it can be a strip cutter. Big Shot machines can take almost every die there is as long as it isn't too wide. The big shot pro can take most of the studio dies, all of the go dies, and also sizzix dies (which do make a strip but I can't remember how wide).

    ok here are some links:

all of these dies fit in the big shot (regular, not pro) and are quilter's dies

It's a common misconception that the big shot and other sizzix machines are not made for quilters. They have a whole category called "quilting".

do be aware that if you use the longer dies in either machine, you need a longer set of cutting pads. The big shot pro westminster edition comes with the longer pads but it is pretty expensive.

On their website they have dies and ideas for quilters in mind. Some examples are: half-square triangles, 2 1/2" squares, dresdens and drunkards path.
I have looked into it because I also scrapbook and so it would be ideal.

I have the Big Shot Pro..both sets of trays...all the strip dies and quite a few of the quilters dies...hexagons, circles, wedges..and love love love them...lots of layers can be cut at once and the machine is very strong and doesn't move when you turn the handle...

Actually I have seen strip dies for the sizzix, they are making more dies so that quilters can now use them and they will cut fabric. This website has a tutorial on it at the bottom of the page. also has the machine and the dies for sell as well. I haven't used it so cant tell you how it is
