Oh, the pain of each hour passing!!! LOL I feel your pain as does every quilter who is doing this. Does it count that I bought 2 pink fat quarters and sent them to someone who loves pink? I hate it and would never use it in a quilt, so I did good, right? LOL

When I need fabric I go to my closet stash. If I have the urge I put a closed sign on the closet door. LOL

Am excited to finish all my works in progress....what an accomplishment that will be. Also will try to make some christmas gifts. Just think of the $ we are saving in this bad economy. here is my newest slogan. "BETTER BEST BE SAVING THAN INDULGING IN FABRIC CRAVING" jacqui
I followed your suggestion when an online store put everything 35% off. I shopped and had a ball. I wavered, but then I left without buying anything. That was very empowering. That was a wonderful idea. Thanks for sharing.

I must confess. Two weeks ago, there was a sale at the LQS. I needed to buy backing for a once and done quilt, 2 3/4 yards, for I needed a solid or tone on tone. And then I bought 3 one yard pieces for that quilt, but I did have 2 one yard pieces at home. So I have all the fabric to make that quilt.

But then, I saw fabric which is usually half price, on sale for $2 a yard. I couldn't resist. I ended up buying 13 yards of material. Not good!

Then last week, upon my husband's suggestion to go to a quilt store, I bought 2 fat quarters but used one of them that night.

So I guess that I am out of Fabric Moratorium group. But I will promise that if I am still in, I won't buy anymore fabric until April29 when I go to the quilt show in Somers, NY. What must I do to regain your confidence in me?

So I guess that I must be the one that bought the most fabric on one buying spree. Has anyone bought more than 13 yards, at one time, during the Fabric Moratorium?

Failed miserably. I cleaned out my sewing room and found a lot of room that had to be filled. Then our LQS had a wonderful sale....... you know all the excuses!

The only progress I have made is my UFOs. I have been slowly finishing them.

I still have confidence in you, we all fall of the wagon at one time or another.
Yes, I did at the very beginning of the Moratorium. It was to finished a double sided civil war quilt. I bought 18 yds. I ordered two pices and one did not match so I had to order a third. Then a couple of weeks ago I bought a 6yd and a 2yd to start a quilt for my DD friend's wedding. I think I am still in as the fabric I bought was not a random buy but to finished quilts. That's the promise I made to myself some time ago.

I didn't join in because I had so little fabric and so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and I promised I would make quilts for them. Maybe I can join late after these quilts are done and I have some scraps to use to make small projects. We'll see. :)

Dear Olivia's Granny,
So glad that you still have confidence in me. I AM working out of my stash but it is so easy to fall off the wagon.
I don't think that buying to finish a quilt counts.

I think you are right, we can buy fabric we need to finish a current project. If we didn't buy too much fabric and too many books, we wouldn't need a moratorium. I think I have had constant failures. But if you keep trying, you will do better. It's not about being perfect, but about breaking bad habits, at least for me.
