Glitter...or metallic? There is a difference.

Made a QAYG w/glitter fabric for one of the strips and the backing 3 years ago...it gets washed several times a year and still sparkles though not as much. It is used about half the year as she has other bedcovers (none handmade!!) and tries to rotate. She's 14 going on 27 now and hinting for another in the nowmosttrendy colors...What are the NOW colors, BTW

The glitter/sparkles do come off. I think it takes many washings before all comes off. I don't actively avoid the glittery fabric, and I don't worry too much about what happens to the glitter. i suppose I would worry more if I'd gotten some in my eye, though. There was some glittery glow in the dark fabric with cat eyes that just called to me a few years ago. It was very stiff, and still is even after washing.

I just washed a fat quarter that is the old "fairy Frost" with the glitter just yesterday....it looks like it did before washing. I use a lot of glitter and metallic fabrics and like one gal said, it takes quite a few washings for them to come off. I do use LQS fabrics, not the cheap quality.

I have never had a problem with the glitter fabrics I have used although I don't think I would use them with very small children or infants.

I have used glitter fabric in the past, sometimes even spraying my wall hanging with the glitter that comes in a can to give it the look I want but these are wall hangings and I never plan on washing them, but I agree I won't use the fabric in a quilt because of the glitter flaking off and getting into some one's eye.

I made a millenium quilt for my DGS for his graduation; It had a lot of sparkle and bling, and it still does today. He loves it and it is washed regularly
