I am trying to set up my guild program for next year. Someone suggested a "fat-quarter sack lunch" but no one on our board can remember how it is conducted. Do any of you know?

My guess would be to have everyone bring a sack lunch and put a fat quarter in a bag and exchange the bags with the fat quarter in them. You could number the bags and draw out numbers from a bowl. You get the bag with matching number or decorate the bags and you get to pick which bag you want when your number is called.

we put the fq or whatever else you choose in a brown bag. then we stood in a circle passing the bags and someone played music or sang. when the music stopped, that's the one you get.

A lady in my sewing group just last week brought a "sack lunch" with her to show us.
What it was was a pattern for I believe to make just one block but it had a little mini pattern along with all the fabric needed to make the block. It gave the information to make a lap size, twin, queensize but just not the fabric for those sizes. I thought it was pretty cool. I did take a picture of it, but my phone is upstairs and I don't want to climb them right now. And it was in a small paper bag. Price on the bottom was $12.95.

We have everyone who wants to play bring 5 coordinating fat quarters in a brown lunch bag. One person assigns them to someone else. The person who gets them makes whatever they want adding fabric but not removing any. On an assigned day each one gets an item that probably they wouldn't make or make a block they wouldn't make, and makes someone use colors they don't like to use. Each person can write a note to tell what they don't want. Rarely anyone is disappointed. It thought me to work with fabrics I dislike, because is all about the recipient.
