Default feed sack bag sewing

Has anybody had problems sewing the feed sacks? When I sew the seams the bottom side doesn't have a nice stitch like the top. I changed the tension but it doesn't help. Can anybody help?

Are you using a walking foot? I've found that the woven plastic doesn't feed well without one. I have also used wide twill tape. I folded it over the seam and sewed so both sides of the tape were stitched at the same time. used lots of wonder clips.

Are these the bags with a plastic-coated liner on the inside? Here are a couple of tips to try.

Use a teflon foot to sew over the plastic side or sew over tissue paper. It's easy to tear it off.

Just had a light bulb moment. I do voluntary work in my church group to help the homeless and others,too.. On Wed. night ,we sort out the donations that we receive.we are doing a shoe drive(going to an orphans home in Haiti) and ran out of bags last night. I'm going to start saving my bird seeds bags for sorting. Never thought of reusing them!

I found out that you need a new needle for every bag. The needle after one bag is not sharp, I been using the needle to long.

I covered a pillow for the case with a birdseed bag..It works wonderfully well. I can slide more easily into the seat and it lasts a long time.
