Default Eleanor Burns Radiant Star pattern

Has anyone on this Board ever made the Radiant Star pattern by Eleanor Burns? The advertisement says it is quite simple but I was wondering if anyone else thought so since it lookw fairly difficult. Thanks from Sue in Virginia.

Eleanor Burns does the best job of creating very clear directions and instructions. None of her patterns are very difficult. If you are considering making this quilt , and are not confident in your skills...just read the instructions a few times before cutting, and go slowly , step by step. I have only encountered one person who had trouble with one of her patterns , but that person had decided to skip a few of the steps.

Is the radiant star the same as a lone star?

If you go to the quiltinaday and go to her media, you will see a tutorial. She makes everything simplified.......she's the queen of quilting!

It's a very well written pattern with step by step instruction. Radiant star is called by many names including Lone Star. As with all patterns, know your quarter inch and do not stretch the bias and all will fit together perfectly.

Her patterns are the best...just follow them to the letter. I love working with her patterns.

I have her older Blazing star table cloth pattern and it looks like the same. Her method is easy but I had to read through it several times to get it to sink in.

Both, her radiant star is a lone star done with strip piecing. I have the book and fabric ready, it's my first quilt after the holidays!

I love all of her patterns. I've made several and the directions tell you everything you need to know.

Yes, it is the same. You have to have an accurate 1/4" seam allowance and press the strips carefully. I have made probably 6 quilts from her book. Cutting accurately is also very important. This is one pattern that is very hard if you are off just a little..... I think Fons & Porter had a TV show on tricks to do one. You might check their webiste and watch the show if you have fast internet service. GOOD LUCK !!!
