I was able to get a basic sewing machine from walmart and a few tools for cutting and measuring. Tomorrow im going to go look at a few fabrics and start getting ideas for my first project. I saw a tutorial for a decent sized fall table runner I was watching today. I cant wait to get started!

Good for you. I have machines from Wal-Mart and have never had a problem with them. I seem to always get Brothers. I got the newest one for $199.00. It's the SQ-9000. It's a great little machine. Which one did you get?

That's exciting! Remember you don't always have to wait to save up for fabric, esp if you are just learning scraps are easy to come by as well as very inexpensive if you look in the right places, like button up shirts at yard sales etc.

I start my new job tomorrow and down the hall from it is a quilting shop. Hehe they have decent size variety of colors. Im going to stop and look tomorrow when I get off, hehe since my husband is in the military my job is just basically extra and something to pass the time. Hehe I know where my checks will be going.
