Default Firefighter Quilt?

My brother is a firefighter and is getting married. I would like to make him and his bride a quilt that hints at his career. I thought a maltese cross block in the corner of a navy and red quilt but can't find an appropriate block. That's pretty much the only idea I have come up with. Any others?

You could use the search function on this site to locate firefighter themed quilts previously posted on here

DH is a firefighter. I have not made a quilt for us yet! I would suggest using the colors of his fire company? And possibly the station number. The maltese cross is a great idea. Depending on how heavily 'firefighter' you want the quilt to be, use the maltese cross as a large center block of the quilt? Good luck - I'm sure your brother and new SIL will be thrilled.

Remember to incorporate what your future sister-in-law does/enjoys too. Especially for a wedding quilt for the TWO of them. JMHO

years ago, Walmart used to carry a very nice fabric that had firefighters on it...firetrucks....ladders, etc. Not a little kids novelty print but a very dignified print. Might check and see if it is still in the stores or on Ebay.....I ''might'' have a few yards but it would be a day or so before I could check. Send me a private message if you are interested. I bought it here in the Kansas City area and I see you are also in the area, so check it out!!

Is he a city or a wild land fire fighter? There are so many things one could do. What are there wedding colors and could you ask what kind of quilt they would like before you start one? I of course love quilts to do with fire.
