I think you should definitely enter it. I think you will be able to fix the open seam, so that it blends right in with the other seams. You have nothing to lose. The beauty of your quilt will not be affected, and it will be enjoyed by all of the viewers.

Absolutely enter it! I had a handquilted quilt I entered that had a repair patch on it!! It stuck out to me like a beacon but no-one noticed it that I am aware of, not even the judge! Or at least they didn't mention it on the comments. The quilt did well enough to win a vendors choice! So do your repair and enter away!

Here is a link to a picture, I defy you to find it! LOL

Welcome from Minnesota. I would enter the quilt as long as the repair turns out well.

I don't have the answer ... I don't write the rules!

Perhaps it's a regional/national thing ... all the ones in this area are to be non-laundered.
And there's numerous other rules ... variable from one show to the other.

Are you kidding? I stood next to that quilt for almost an hour as a white glove lady at the show, and I couldn't find anything wrong with it at all! And I was looking for it!

I say go for it! The quilts are hung outdoors on buildings and there is a good chance no one will see this small flaw.

I am entering a quilt for the first time this year also. I am nervous but excited about seeing it hung outside.

It depends on the show, some want them unwashed, you have to read the rules on the show
