Hi,

I am wanting to use flannel for the backing on a quilt top. I have washed the flannel 5 times and am still getting so much fluff off of the fabric. Soon I will have to buy more because this piece will be worn out washing it!!! LOL My question is - does the fluff ever stop or should I just use it like it is?

Thanks,

Use it as is. I have been using flannel as backing for 30+ years. Everyone seems to love it cause it keeps you warm and is cuddly. For the quilts at my sister's, who washes them every week, sometimes 2x week, the backs seem to hold up longer than the fronts.

Thank you! I will stop washing it and use it even though it still fills up the dryer vent. LOL My son asked that his quilt be backed with flannel for that exact reason. Warm and cuddly and it won't slid off the bed either.

Don't worry about the fluff as long as it isn't shrinking anymore. All will be fine.

Yep, use it!!! Just like towels, they may continue to fill the lint screen but oh how soft the backing will be on his quilt :D:D:D

Thank you, never used flannel on back before and thought the fluff should quit after a couple of washings. Guess I would have worn the fabric out washing it. LOL
