Has anybody made a rag quilt with fleece? I have made the ones where you don't sew them you just tie the edges but I want to make one like a rag quilt but not sure if it will look right. Let me know if anybody has tried it.

Just my opinion, but the fleece won't really ravel(Spelling?) and that is part of the charm of the rag quilt. If you don't mind that it won't fluff up on the edges , go for it. But i have never tried this so it is just a guess. Good Luck !

I knew it wouldn't ravel. I just need a really warm blanket for a friend. I though fleece would be the warmest. Im not sure if I want to do it rag or just tie the edges.

If you don't want to tie the edges just sew two layers together with right sides facing then turn right side out and do a little bit of quilting on it. I've made two of them this way one for DH and one for me. They are very warm.

I made one for a friend from a kit that I bought at JoAnn's. It had golf stuff on it and he loved it. The fleece blocks were already "pre-fringed" and quilt was only 1 layer thick with the blocks sewn with right sides together. It was really heavy and was really easy to do -- after I convinced myself that it was ok to sew it "backwards." :wink:

Knot Sew

I bought 2 2yard pieces of contrasting colors. cut 3 or four inches deep abt 1/2 in wide. this is through the two together. You then start puttin in knots all the way around. I got this fron on line to make mine :D

They are VERY Warm. My niece made one for me years ago and I love it. When I got sick and had to be in the hospital for a week I took my blankie with me ! LOL. The nurses thought it was hilarious ! I was over 40 at the time...LOL...

Hey, what's wrong with taking your blankie to the hospital with you? I would have if I had thought about it....and I'm over 55 :wink:
