    Default FMQing and Flowers

After working on many, many practice squares, and several charity blankets I have finally gotten up enough nerve to give FMQ a real try. This quilt has been laying in my sewing room unfinished for at least a year. I knew that I didn't want to hand quilt it, but didn't have enough confidence to jump in there and try free motion. Finally, I chose a day after a good night's sleep, my bones didn't ache and I had the state of mind that said, "If this doesn't work no one will really know except me." Anyone says anything like "why did you do that there?" I'll just pretend that I planned it that way...period.

Truth is...I didn't really have a plan. Just a hope and a prayer. I do give credit to many on this site who have shown their FMQing. Those pictures have really been inspirational and given me ideas and more confidence to give it a whirl. There is so much room for improvement, but seeing everyone's work just causes me to keep moving my bar a little higher.

Once you get on to it you will be hooked. We all have our first ATTEMPTS. I usually only FMQ thru the winter months but have to watch when doing the first of the winter --the old eyelashes pop up on the back from lack of practice. By the 3rd or 4th quilt the flow is going strong!

Well done. You'll love the process, and progress. It will look great too.
