I read this today and thought I would pass it along:

If you don’t have a space large enough for a design wall, try using a folding cardboard cutting mat covered with white flannel. Prop it up in your sewing room when you need it, and fold it away when you’re finished.

I think it was an awesome tip

I thought so :)

You can even keep the squares on the board and fold them up, then open up next time you want to add to them.. I love it (especially since I don't have room for a design wall)

Neat idea. Too bad I got rid of my cardboard cutting mat last week. I haven't used it since I got my cutting table and cutting mat, so, told dh to burn it. Unfortunately, he actually did it right away. Usually, he will put things like that on the side and do it some other time. Oh well, I might have to go and get another one.

This is a great idea-and I've been wondering what to do with my mom's old cardboard cutting mat-didn't want to throw it away, but never use it. . .Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I have an old one stuck behind a cabinet, haven't looked at it for years. And with cutting mats and rotary blades, it hasn't been needed much. I'd forgotten it totally, out of sight, out of mind.
