Thanks everyone for clearing it up for me. This designer shouldn't be writing pattern instructions.

Or taking and publishing pictures that go with the instructions.

I saw the quilt at a show and fell in love with it, so I bought the pattern. I think the vendor had taken their own picture of the quilt and taped it on the cover of the pattern. When I got home and opened the pattern, I lost ALL desire to make that quilt. The pictures were absolutely horrible.

I took a class at the local quilt shop. I found a scrap of fabric that had 4 repeats and make a baby quilt using it. The print was cowboys and I have 25 fun blocks. Hats, hosters horses, boots etc. going in different directions. I think making the small quilt made it something I enjoyed and I know my grandson loved the quilt.

I don't think I would want to tackle it without a teacher

I've made one without realizing that was what I was doing!! As some others said, I just stacked 4 layers of fabric with the pattern lined up and cut the size square I wanted. Worked like a charm! Simple!! After I did my quilt, a friend had me pick the pattern up for her when I went to the quilt shop. I didn't look at it very hard when I realized I had been there, done that without knowing I was doing a 4-patch posie!!

After seeing it at the LQS a year ago, I did it without a pattern too ... just picked up bits and pieces of info from the Quilting Board!!

If you get the block too big, you're not going to see the kaleido so well. I cut my squares at 2-1/2".

I agree tho I think I'll just cut mine one at a time like I do my S & W. I know it takes longer, but...

I hope you didn't give up on making Stacked Posies. I started mine yesterday. Our local quilting group gets together twice a month. Some of them were learning to make Stack n Wack which is done with an 18 degree ruler. I did my own thing ... Stacked Posies. Was wondering if I was just going to ruin a great piece of very large floral fabric. The repeat was 23.5 inches. I cut my fabric repeats into 3.5 inch squares and started spinning them to get the most interesting designs. It was so much fun. It is a work in progress that makes me giggle at the surprising designs! Scarey to start but so much fun and is real easy. The more I read my pattern the more confused I got so I left the darned thing home.
