Went to our local Hancocks the other day and picked up a couple of fq. Washed, ironed and got ready to cut it and it was cut at an angle 18 x 20 not straight at all. Luckaly I still can use this I don't need it all. And also I think it is a little thin but then maybe its just me.

That's why I don't buy fat quarter's. I've had too many that were cut really short or wonky.

This will be going back tomorrow. Not sure if I want to try buying any more precuts from them. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hancocks here cuts everything wonky if you don't watch them. No rotary cutting at all.

The only manufacturer I will buy FQs from is Moda, they seem to do a good job at cutting. Though i also just had some from Riley Blake that were nicely cut too. I have found most other manufacturer's (like the ones at Joanns) don't take care when cutting, so I don't bother unless I know I don't need the full width of the FQ (like if I plan on just using it for bits and pieces). I will buy FQs from a few select quilt stores because they hand cut and seem to do a good job. Other than that I will just buy a half yard of fabric off the bolt and make two of my own FQs. :)

I did order some fabric from Hancocks. I noticed it was cut wonky. Luckily, like you, I didn't need the exact amount so I was OK. I have heard good things about fabric from Connecting Threads. I am expecting an order to come tomorrow. Only ordered 2 fat quarters, mostly thread, so we'll see how that goes.

I think I would keep the receipt and say something the next time I went in. They may make it right even after the fact.

Well since I don't need to use it all maybe I will just keep it and say something the next time I go there.
