When I do my second stint at free-motion quilting, is it reasonable to free-motion over a picture using invisible thread. I am going to free-motion over the whole thing with inv. thread and didn't know what one does with a picture. I transferred the px onto the center of the book cover. The cover is 5.5 x 8 and the pictue is 3 x 5. Thnx, Pauline

Can you outline the items in the picture rather than all over quilting on the picture...or FMQ in the background of the picture? I personally would not quite all over on a photo....don't know what the subject matter on your photo is though. ..might make a difference.

I'm with you....quilting over a pic would distort it.

It is a picture of old-time books lined up on a bookshelf (since this is a book cover). So maybe I will just do swirls along the edges. I was not sure if fmq all over it would change the image, so I think I will just do the edge fmq. Thanks. I am new to all this but am learning quickly and have done 4 quilts (lap-quilts) since Oct. Thanks

How about quilting around each book? Would help them puff out. Just a thought.
