Default Elmer's glue with Paper piecing?

Anyone used Elmer's glue for holding paper to fabric pieces for paper piecing? I heard fabric pulls away from glue when needed?

I've been using a glue stick with great success for paper piecing when I need to hold fabric to the paper. Pulls away and doesn't leave a residue

Make sure it's the washable white glue - NOT the regular Elmer's wood glue. A little goes a long way.

I use the Elmer's School Glue (washable) glue stick. Lots easier than pinning and the paper & fabric don't get distorted.

Elmers School Glue Stick is the best for paper piecing. Storing it in the refrigerator makes it last longer too.

May have to try the stick, but has anyone tried just regular washable glue from bottle?
