I bought a set of Robison Anton Super Poly 700 yard mini spools last summer. My machine likes it and I use it to machine quilt with no problems. I have ordered from Red Rock and the service is excellent.

Robison Anton cotton is the only thread I use. it is reasonably priced and my professional machine loves it. It is a little linty but I clean my machine after or before each use. It really isn't an issue.
That is a great price!! Get as much as you can.
I havnt ever used rayon. But I woulod like too. Is it used for FMQ quilting? I am a purist and love the thought that my quilts are 100% cotton. But I am thinking about rayon.

I think you can be a purist and still use rayon thread - usually the rayon is used for decorative stitching or for the quilting itself. Its not usually used for piecing. Because it is shiny it highlights the stitching more and makes a nice contrast to the fabric.
Robinson Anton is a good company and makes a number of varieties of thread - often the rayon and polyester is popular with machine embroidery sewers.
