How wonderful that you two are bonding; and even better that you are bonding over quilting! What a terrific story- thanks for sharing.

Step situations are so often touchy. I have had my share of them. It sounds like you found the needed thread to reach this girl. Good luck. The youth does push us to action. Keep it up and enjoy her.

You didn't mention how old your granddaughter is. But so many preteens and teens are struggling to establish there own identity and it can be very difficult when their values, interests, etc, are different from those of the majority of their peers. You are giving her a priceless opportunity to figure out who she is, to express herself and to be sucessful at something. She is so fortunate to have you giving her some attention. May your relationship continue to blossom.

Wow I am so glad to hear such a wonderful story you are helping her to come out of her shell and she is learning a skill she can enjoy for many years to come.
