I have a Janome and last checkup was $85.00. Every couple years I take it in for a tuning.

I have 2 elnas, roughly $70-$95 plus parts, recommend yearly, even as much as I use mine.

I took my Kenmore to the shop and was charged $150, but $25 of that was so I could get it back the same day. It was cleaned, oiled, tuned and whatever else needed to be done to it.

I pay $60 + parts for cleaning and tune up.
I get the machine back in a week, even if I take four in at a time.
Even if the machine only needs a $13 part, my mechanic calls me and asks (when he gets to know me better <g> he won't, but I would expect that from any responsible businessman).

Here in Denver I was quoted $120 for total tune-up and cleaning....and it takes about a week to get my machine back. I haven't done it yet, as I can't go that long

That is why I haunt thrift stores and garage sales ... for $35 or less, I have a variety of machines so that I am not out of tools while others are being repaired. Most of the machines I find in the thrift stores just had families that didn't know what their mom had ...

Here it is around $75.

ETA- I am near Green Bay, WI- that's where I went last time. (This is a fairly LCOL area.)
