OK......so it's 3am and I'm searching the site for a topic I seem to remember but can't find.........

Wasn't there a post about how to check to see whether your fabric would fade.............. without washing the entire yardage?

Thanks for your input.

I never saw the topic but now you’ve got me curious. Will watch to see what others tell you. You can take a tiny piece of fabric and put it in hot water to see if it runs but have never heard of a way to tell if it will fade. Any fabric will fade if left by a sunny window.

Thanks for your reply.........I meant to say "runs"......not "fade". I'm going to try and edit my post now. Hope I can do it. Thanks again!

I see how to edit THIS, but can't find how to edit my original post. Geesh!!!

Would be the same. Cut a piece off run warm water over it see if the color runs.

Thanks so much! This sounds sensible, and I'm going to try it today. Making Amish colors in pinwheels with licorice black squares in between, and backing, so need to prevent having a nightmare after it has been given away for Christmas gift. Thanks again.

Wow! With Amish colors I would be pre-washing everything.
