I nearly finished a quilt last night without the label. I remembered it just in time to add it before sewing down the binding in the last corner! I don't usually fool with labels except on quilts that are going to family members or close friends.

I try to have my label made ready to go on the quilt as soon as it's finished.

I always try to incorporate some of the quilt design within the label. I do label all as I consider it part of the design. I hand embroider my labels - OK you can hate me now!!

I never put labels on my quilts. I just don't think it's important 100 years from now to know who made them. I'm only talking about me - I'm not advocating this for anyone else. It's not that I make ugly quilts, I don't. They are as nice as most I have seen here and nicer than some and not as nice as others. It just seems like arrogance to me to say "I made this."

Me either, but I want to. I just haven't created the lables yet.

I was also taught this by one of my early quilting instructors

I hate to sew anything by hand. So, thank you dear frends for pointing out that I can sew my label on a quilt by machine before quilting it. No more hand sewing labels on for me. Now, some one please tell me how to get a binding on by machine that looks as nice as a hand sewn one.

I did this binding and loved the look, all done by machine. http://www.52quilts.com/2012/05/tues...c-binding.html
