Got my first pair about 33 years ago, never had them sharpened. The screw needs to be tightened, tho. I got a new pair with a 50% off coupon at JoAnn's last fall that I haven't used yet. Guess I need to break them out. Somehow it seems disrespectful to the first pair! Does that make sense?

Gingher's were one of my first "gifts to myself" in quilting 30 years ago (before rotary cutters!) Still have them, still love them! Congratualtions!

I have a pair that I protect faithfully. Everyone in my house knows that they are for fabric only. I keep several pair of cheapies for them to use. LOL

My daughter know how to get to me though. Every once in a while she says, "We're in here, Mom, cutting plastic and cardboard with your ginghers."

Are Gingher scissors better than Fiskars? What do you mostly use them for?

It's like the difference between a Ford and a Mercedes. They both get you where you want to go, but the Mercedes does it more comfortably and lasts longer... ;) :)

Joanne's had Ginghers for 50% at Christmas, William bought me a two pair set...they cost $24.00, a pair of shears and a pair of "snips".

My son has bought me three pair of Ginghers asd Xmas goftds. I have been going bonkers trying to find the fiberglass pair, been missing since Xmas. I used them a lot after my hands started hurting while doing a lot of cutting. Still have my shiny pair and my applique one. I really love them!

Congratulations to you!!! I went to JoAnn's last year to buy my first pair of Ginghers (after asking the quilters on this board for their suggestions). Ginghers were #1 in the poll results! I used a 50% off coupon and bought an 8" blunt-tip knife/serrated edge shear, for me to use only in my sewing room. I also bought and 8" lightweight-bent pair that was on sale for 40% off, for me to use when I go to classes. Maybe I should have bought a shorter lightweight-bent pair for classes than the 8" pair. I may do that if I can get another 50% coupon. :)
