Yep... one whole 1/4"...
I picked up one strip 1" wide and attached the border strip and the centre panel - then picked up a strip 1-1/4" wide and did the same to the other side.
My 12yo tells me "It's ok mum, you can't see the difference!" - I think he's trying to be kind.
I have to unpick the 1" wide strip on both sides and find where I put the 1-1/4" - it looks better....

grrrrrrr
this is what comes of designing as you go.... many, many hours spent unpicking....

but it WILL look good soon....getting closer to a finish...

off to unpick...

I spend a lot of time unpicking. I'm sure your quilt is going to look great.

oh no, I understand, no fun unpicking, but you are learning by your mistakes, take care and let us know the update, your child was cute in his saying!

Oh dear....as a friend of mine says..."Don't get cross - it's character building". That boy of yours could find a career in the diplomatic service...very sweet. Hang in there and show us your work when you're done.

 I know how you feel, I had to tear out the border I sewed because I didn't line up my fabrics and the underside was less than an 1/8". It was hard ripping out as I had only caught the edge and all it wanted to do as ravel.

Don't ya hate it when that happens. If is was 1/4" off on say a 6" border, no one would notice but on a 1".....

fixed.

yes - character building...yes....mmmmmm let me think on that.

I'll blame it all on my 17yo son...who decided he needed to know how to fry an egg about when I made my error...

It's looking good..about to attach the 'keyboard' now.. will post pics on the Pic forum..

thanks for the support...it truly helped

All of us have been in your position more than once, ask me how I know? I have a quilt that has to be ripped out on two borders, it's an UFO for now. Most of us are on first name basis with our seem rippers, mine's called Susie on a good day! Hang in there, it'll all be fine!
