I like to hand piece and am currently working on a GFG with 1 3/4 hexagons. I have 2 other patterns currently on my list to hand piece, CW and a round Dresden Plate. What are some other good patterns to hand piece as I have lots of time to complete these quilts? I like hand piecing because I can take it with me when I go places.

I hand piece pretty much any simple block. Any block with geometric shapes I can do. Squares, triangles, and rectangles.

Do you have a certain block you like? You just make your templates and you can hand piece. hope this answers what you were asking

I like tumbling blocks myself. Did one EPP method and thoroughly enjoyed it.

My favorite hand pieced is Trip Around the World. I did mine starting with the single 2-1/2" center square, added the next round and continued adding rounds till I liked the size of the diamond, then added rows of decreasing # of squares out to each corner. Mine had 19 different green prints ranging from black background with green leaves to white background with green leaves with all sorts of greens in between. Eventually I will get it sandwiched and quilted. It's for ME so there's no hurry.

Any block may be handpieced, you don't have to limit yourself to the typical suggestions. Many antique quilts were handpieced, and a quilt that I just received had a handpieced heart block in it that I love to pieces :D:D:D

I guess I'm kind of looking for patterns that are more difficult to do by machine, like the GFG or Double Wedding Ring. I like ot do more complex designs by hand as my accuracy is much better that way. But thanks for the ideas!
