Default Would a Polyester Fabric and Stabilizer Combination Work?

I've got a piece of polyester fabric that I'd like to use in a quilt. I've read that polyester fabric and cotton fabric do not play well together. Is there any reason I couldn't put a stabilizer on the polyester, similar to a t-shirt quilt, and use it that way?

I'm not experienced with using stablizers. Is there a certain type that would work better than others?

Cotton and polyester react differently to the iron but if you give it a good press before cutting you can see how to reacts before using it. If it does fine then I don't think a stabilizer will be necessary. Polyester will keep it's colour a lot longer than cotton and is really good for children's drag around quilts.

Another consideration is that poly doesn't shrink and cotton does. If you're not a pre washer now is the time to prewash.

I have done that in a scrap quilt. It works okay if you remember not to iron the polyester. Of course, I don't know anyone who irons quilts after they are made.LOL I used a light weight fusible that is made for collars, etc., just to keep it from stretching while I was piecing. This was a utility quilt I gave to a grandson to keep in his truck.
