I have been so busy! I finished up the stars for my heart quilt three or four days ago, and was looking at the layout for the quilt that I'd planned trying to see how many more heart blocks I needed to make.

In retropect my notes are very clear 16 done, with 10 hatch marks showinga total of 26 done. Underneath is the 10 crossed out and then 8 crossed out next to my "in work" And last in my line is the 13 stars marked off as done.

Well somehow when I went back to look at my layout I had it in my head I only had 18 done... So that day I mumbled all day long about thinking I'd made more than that. But even my sister assured me 18 done meant 18 more to do. So I've worked like a crazy person, creating my "chains" of halfsquare triangles, one chain per block I thought I needed.

Then last night as I was adding the 11 blocks I made that day, my box that holds them was very full. So I added the new ones, and thought okay I'll just count them... 37! The quilt blocks are done! Wow, and here I have 8 or 9 ready to sew that are now extra... I just need to sew two stars and one heart for the two double sided pillows I want to make. Hu, how about that.

It doesn't even feel real.

How about pillow shams to go w/ your quilt? I have done the same thing. If I don't write it down and attach it to what I'm working on, look out!

Post pictures. Your quilt sounds pretty and I love stars.

that was just your quilt's way of telling you it would have been lonely without the pillows. we only think we make our own decisions about our projects. the truth is that they are usually in complete control and only let us come along for the ride.

also begging for pics. :P

The pillows were planned, I think this quilt wants a twin (sized full/queen like the first), for my bed too! lol, everytime I mention it to dh he says nothing, maybe he's afraid of the longarmer bill? I was surprised by how impressed he was with my stars, when I had finished all I needed of those.

So now the last three blocks I needed for the pillows are done (I posted the 1st post and made myself stay away until I finished the last three for the pillows, and my eight little "oppsies!" are awaiting futher attention. They'll have to wait a bit longer as I work to plan for this current one. Does everyone use a local longarmer? My local one is really a front that contracts them out to local quild members. Uh! I guess maybe it's time to contact the quild...

I'm a little worried, because I poured myself into this (it's made from dd's baby clothes) and I will be a crazy lady if it isn't quilted properly. Any tips?

Oh Patrice you're so right. The quilt must know the end result long before we finish them! I'm currently sorting more fabric, so these two quilts can look their best, shoot I suppose it's rather like dressing a princess!

I've decided a throw quilt is not in the cards and I'm working on making perinatal quilts out of them to donate to charity. I have just enough blocks to make a "set" of all the sizes and numbers as they are requested from hospitals. I have the first two as extra small preemie completed.

http://www.bridgingpeople.org/default/perinatalloss.htm Is where I'll be sending them.
